This Week's Sermon

This week in the parish we are celebrating many things!

St. Andrew's is celebrating a baptism
St. John's is celebrating their Patronal Festival
And we are offering and asking special prayers for our fisheries and fishers

So with all that in mind HERE is this week's sermon.

    Fantastic sermon! Thank you! I really like how you tied it in with the fisheries and creation. Wonderful! What a special day at your church - a patronal festival AND a baptisim. Nice!

    Our parish is also named after St. John, so we too celebrated on Sunday. Our priest preached on the name that John used for himself in the Gospel of John "the one whom Jesus loved." He reminded us that we get our identity from St. John, that we also become "the one whom Jesus loves."

Thanks to my old friend at yougeek.ca I have learned that my blog has been quoted by another. The author(s) of TNG/TNG has pointed others my way. I thank them for doing so, however I would like to point out that God does not take sides in issues like this. Priests do take sides but God never takes sides. I would like to think that God has a soft spot in His heart for the CBC and all of its employees. I wrote what I wrote simply to offer a thought on the bias of what was being written by the managers who were "forced" to lockout their employees. In the end I do believe that we all have choices to make in this world and we should be honest enough to stand up and say, "This is what I have chosen to do." Now if that is taking sides... Then I am taking sides. Finally, I am sure that my favourite CBC Personality, Danny Finkleman, is quite happy to be in retirement now! At least he won't have to carry a picket sign. Services this week are scheduled for: 11am Holy Eucharist, St. Andrew's, Neil's Harbour 7pm Evening Prayer, St. John's, Ingonish Also our mid-week Eucharist during Lent is scheduled for Wednesday 22 March 2006, 10am, St. John's Ingonish. This service will be followed by the third Session of our Lenten Study Group on Liturgy. During this session we will look at the liturgies of Holy Week - beginning with Palm Sunday and Monday - Wednesday. All are welcome to attend.
