Sunday of Christmas

Today is the First Sunday of Christmastide. We hold our annual Festival of Christmas Lessons and Carols tonight and early this morning we held a quiet celebration of Holy Communion. I offered a brief homily at the Eucharist which you can find, in audio format, by clicking HERE Hope your Christmastide is peaceful and blessed.

Christmas Day

Today we celebrate the birth of Jesus into the world as a child! At St. George's we are marking this day by feeding the lonely, the hungry, the poor and those who may not get a festive meal because of work or other circumstances. We are planning on feeding about 15o people. The day began with a celebration of Holy Eucharist and I offered a brief homily which you can find, in audio format only, by clicking HERE May the Christmas season be one of joy for you all.

Longest Night

Every year the Pictou County Council of Churches holds a service of worship to recognize that for many people Christmas is not a joyful time. Many people have had losses of one kind or another and those losses become quite poignant at this time of year. This year St. George's was the host and I offered a brief meditation for this occasion. You can find that offering (in both text and audio formats) by clicking HERE Blessings to all who grieve losses at this time of year.
