Tuesday Meals

Image
I managed to get photos of all three meals today. Also I'm home now so you won't have to look at more food photos from me. Breakfast: Omelet with the works, apple slices, coffee, apple juice. Omelet was perfect. Lunch: Chicken stew (hot and tasty), rice, green beans, apple crisp, coffee. Supper: Fish chowder (it was hot and fresh), salad, milk, coffee, homemade butterscotch pudding. In the end the food was excellent but I'm glad I don't have to eat there anymore.

Monday Lunch & Dinner

I didn't get a photo of breakfast because I forgot to snap one. But it was nice fluffy scrambled eggs, buttermilk biscuits, coffee (surprisingly good). Here's lunch: hamburger with carrots, mashed potatoes. I added some mustard and relish. The bun had to be the gluten free option because the regular buns have sesame seeds (very bad for Elliott). The burger was tasty and the bun was very good too. Supper was crusted haddock, chicken & rice soup, coleslaw, and vanilla ice cream for desert. The fish was flaky and not over cooked. The soup was hot and tasty. So another good day of meals.

Sunday Breakfast and Lunch

Because I promised to post photos of the meals... breakfast closer on the omelet lunch (mac & cheese with panko crust) I didn't get a photo of supper because I was getting my IV infusion and my phone was across the room.

Now back then the notion of "hospital food" was paramount to "oh God, no! surely it wasn't that bad" kind of thing. I remember the insulated tray would come and be plopped off and underneath the cover lay the blandest, greyest, most wilted thing they called a meal. Ok, well, maybe I exaggerate, yeah, I exaggerate. Sorry, won't happen again. That being said it was the best they could do with the technology and training of their day (... errr my day.... oh dear). Feeding a building that would have at any time 1000-2000 people could not have easy. However! I am here today to let you know that “hospital food” has drastically changed and for the better! First of all, it is no longer called the “cafeteria,” or “Food Services” (capitalized for emphasis). Now, it is called “Room Service.” I’m gonna let that sit there for a sec... Y...
